Obsidian House

Award-Winning Design. Designed for the Wild.

Set within Montana’s rugged landscape, this mountain residence pairs the warmth of a remote retreat with an exceptional level of integrated technology. SAV’s work on the home earned the 2024 Technology Designer Performance Home Award for Best Technology Design & Integration, recognizing a project where sophisticated systems were carefully considered alongside the architecture and interiors.

Working with Pearson Design Group, On Site Management, and Eberlein Design Consultants, SAV integrated lighting control, automated window treatments, whole-home audio, entertainment, climate, and security while preserving the home's natural materials and refined aesthetic. Speakers remain discreet, shades disappear into custom wood valances, and centralized control brings the home's many systems together through a simple, intuitive experience.

That integration becomes especially important in such a remote setting. Surveillance, automated lighting routines, environmental monitoring, and centralized control provide greater awareness and peace of mind, while a high-performance rec room brings together surround sound, gaming, video, and custom lighting for a more immersive entertainment experience. The result is technology that feels purposeful rather than prominent—supporting the experience of living in the Montana landscape.
